Safety Perimeter Fencing
Perimeter fencing at all campuses was part of the planned safety enhancements in Prop A of the 2023 Bond program.
Latest Update: Fall 2026
Creating secure learning environments
Installing secured area fencing at all campuses provides numerous benefits that enhance student safety and create a more secure learning environment. The fencing helps establish clear boundaries for the school property, limiting unauthorized access and ensuring that all visitors enter through designated checkpoints. This added layer of security helps protect students and staff by deterring trespassers and reducing potential safety risks. In addition, secured fencing provides peace of mind for parents and the community, reinforcing our commitment to student safety and well-being. Ultimately, fencing supports a safe and focused educational environment where students can thrive.
Fencing designed for each campus
Our fencing project is designed to comply with the Texas Education Agency Commissioner's Rules Concerning School Facilities, which call for a secured exterior perimeter using a non-scalable fence or wall with locked gates that provide emergency egress. Campuses are being fenced with six-foot, black, factory-finished decorative steel fencing, designed with a clean, modern aesthetic that is easily maintainable and avoids an institutional appearance.
Because every campus is unique, the fencing layout is tailored to each site, either enclosing the full perimeter or following a segmented approach closer to the building. The goal is to enclose as many doors and play areas as possible, reduce vehicle gates, and minimize crossover between pedestrians and vehicles. Each campus plan is developed with input from district leadership and departments including Facilities, Transportation, and Security, as well as the three municipalities we serve.
Secure gates and visitor screening
Automated vehicular smart gates are integrated into the perimeter fencing at key driveways. These gates feature badge card access for staff. Visitors arriving without a badge press the intercom to connect directly with front office staff, who visually verify the driver before remotely opening the gate. This ensures vehicles are screened long before reaching campus doors. Pedestrian gates include panic hardware for emergency exit and controlled access tied to our security system.
