Garland ISD Families,

As you know, last week, Garland ISD disabled Canvas access due to a reported cybersecurity breach at Instructure, the company that operates Canvas. Canvas is now fully operational, and the data breach has been resolved. GISD plans to begin restoring Canvas access for staff and students on Tuesday morning, May 12. 

Students and Teachers in GISD

Student and teacher passwords are securely managed through GISD Single Sign-On and are protected. Students and their teachers are not required to change their passwords at this time.

Parents and Guardians

As a precaution, parents and guardians should update their Canvas Parent/Family Access portal passwords. Please note that the GISD Technology Department cannot reset your personal Canvas password.

We encourage you to use the following guidelines to create your password 

• Password with at least three of the five following characters:
  • Lowercase characters
  • Uppercase characters
  • Numbers
  • Punctuation
