summer meals june 1-25 & july 6-16

Garland ISD's Summer Meals Program is returning this summer with expanded community partnerships designed to help more students and families access free meals while school is out.

From June 1–25 and July 6–16, children and teens ages 18 and younger can receive free breakfast and lunch at select Garland ISD campuses, select apartment complexes, and recreation centers throughout the City of Garland, as well as additional community locations in Rowlett and Sachse.

View all locations, dates, and times on the Student Nutrition Services website. For a printable version, see the 2026 Summer Meals flyer.

Through a new partnership with the City of Garland Parks and Recreation Department, the district will provide free meals at recreation centers across the city for the first time, expanding access for families during the summer months.

"We want to be where the students are," said Jennifer Miller, Director of Student Nutrition Services. "It's important to get out in the community so families can access free meals in multiple locations across the area. The more locations we have, the more children we're able to reach during the summer when they don't have meals provided at school each day."

In addition to recreation centers, meals will continue to be offered at select apartment communities, churches, summer programs, and school campuses.

Most community locations, including apartment complexes and recreation centers, will serve lunch only. Several school campuses and program sites will offer both breakfast and lunch.

As a reminder:

  • Registration is not required for summer meals.
  • An adult or older sibling must accompany children to receive meals.
  • Meals served at school campuses must be eaten in the cafeteria.
  • Meals served at apartment complexes and other community locations must be eaten on site.
  • District-operated sites will be closed June 29–July 3, though some community locations may continue serving meals during that time.

Garland ISD will also help kick off the summer meals program during a community event hosted by the Garland Library.

The Summer Meals Kickoff Event will take place Saturday, May 30, at the downtown Garland Central Library. The event will include activities for families and live cooking demonstrations by Executive Chef Kevin Jenkins at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Families can find the full summer meals schedule on the  Garland ISD website. Menus are also available through SchoolCafé.
