What is Title I?

Title I is a federal program that provides additional funding to schools based on the number of students from low-income families. All Title I campuses in Garland ISD operate as schoolwide programs, allowing Title I funds to be used, in coordination with other resources, to strengthen the overall educational program and provide additional support to students who need it.

What do Title I programs offer?

Title I programs may offer:

• Additional teachers and aides
• Opportunities for professional development for school staff
• A variety of supplementary teaching methods
• Additional teaching materials which supplement a student’s regular instruction
• Parent involvement opportunities

What is Title II?

Title II is a federal program that provides funding to support the recruitment, preparation, and ongoing development of effective teachers, principals, and other school leaders. Garland ISD uses Title II funds to support professional learning, mentoring, and other activities that strengthen educator effectiveness and improve student outcomes.

What is Title III?

Title III is a federal program that provides funding to support English learners in developing English language proficiency and achieving academic success. Garland ISD uses Title III funds to provide educational resources, support services, professional development for educators, and parent and community engagement activities that strengthen instruction and support the success of English learners.

What is Title IV?

Title IV, Part A (Student Support and Academic Enrichment) federal funding supports student academic achievement by providing resources for a well-rounded education, safe and healthy learning environments, and the effective use of technology. Garland ISD uses Title IV, Part A funds to support allowable programs and activities that expand educational opportunities, enhance student learning, and promote positive school environments.
