Garland ISD’s water polo program continues to make an unmatched impact as students earn all-district honors and showcase the strength of a growing sport across the district.

Garland ISD earned a perfect 100 on the TEA’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), showcasing exceptional financial management, transparency, and accountability.

Walnut Glen Academy for Excellence earns a 98 TEA rating, tying for the third-highest among Texas elementary schools and the highest in Garland ISD.

In 2025, roughly 15% of GISD graduates earned an associate's degree alongside their high school diploma, a percentage that ranks among the highest in Texas and likely the nation for large urban school districts.

Through purposeful planning and a collective approach, Garland ISD has seen immense growth in the amount of students considered college, career and military ready (CCMR) upon graduation.  

Students at Memorial Pathway Academy enjoyed a mini Texas State Fair on campus, complete with games, food, and Texas culture.

Students from Heather Glen Montclair Elementary will become the Griffin Roadrunners in a modern campus designed to welcome learning and community together.

GISD's "Tailgate with SAIL" event brought families and schools together to close reading gaps and empower students for success.

Sellers Middle School welcomed Superintendent Dr. Ricardo López as the inaugural speaker in its new Leadership Speaker Series, where he inspired students to lead with character, confidence, and persistence.
